CENTRAL COAST, NEWCASTLE & HUNTER VALLEY REGION
After living in Newcastle for nearly a year, I can honestly say there's a lot more to this once industrial city than most think. From incredible beaches, excellent restaurants and loads of quirky and unique places to visit, Newcastle makes for a great weekend away from Sydney.
In the area you'll find the Hunter Valley, Australia's most famous wine region as well the Central Coast further down the coast and the incredible Port Stephens up the coast. Port Stephens is home to the Southern Hemisphere's largest sand dunes, as well as a harbour twice the size of Sydney Harbour! There's so many resident dolphins, that it's pretty much guaranteed you'll spot some. Port Stephens also has loads of activities for kids so it's a great weekend away for families.

Don't forget to visit South West Rocks which has a fantastic camping ground on the beach and of course Bellingen, our favourite small town in NSW. Here you'll find some of the best walks in NSW at Dorrigo National Park, as well as some incredible waterfalls to swim in. It's an explorer's paradise!
