We're Annie & Steve, a British and Australian couple who met in the foothills of the Himalayas in India, at a meditation retreat in 2011. We've been inseparable ever since.
We built Londoner In Sydney in 2014 to help guide your way into expat life in Australia. What was once a guide on just exploring Sydney, Londoner In Sydney is so much more than Sydney life. We've branched out and as we explore more, we'll show you all of the best hidden gems in Australia you need to know about.
There's two sides to our site
On the one hand we are constantly exploring new places in Australia and around the world to share with you through our videos and detailed written guides. We love hiking, finding new beaches, visiting art galleries, secret gardens and really special off the beaten path places.
The other side of Londoner In Sydney is all about being an expat in Australia. Annie writes from the heart to offer help and reassurance for other expats trying to settle into a new country. We know only too well how unsettling being an expat can be. After a stint living back in England for six months, we feel like we can finally settle in Australia after so long. We hope to inspire our readers to feel the same.
We also offer tips on moving to Australia as well. If you're feeling overwhelmed about how to get started with the Australia visa process, our Australia Migration Agents called AUREC Migration & Mobility can help you, even if you just need a question answered. You can contact AUREC Migration & Mobility if you need to chat with them at no cost!
Londoner In Sydney has surpassed our expectations
To be honest, when we created Londoner In Sydney back in 2014, we never knew how big it would become. We see thousands of people reading our guides every month and receive so many emails from expats and locals about how we've helped them in one way or another. This brings us the greatest joy.
We're looking for writers to join our team
As we continue to grow Australia's leading expat site, we're looking build more of a community by sharing your expat stories and favourite places to visit around Australia. After sharing our personal thoughts since 2014, it's time to start sharing yours too. We'll still be sharing our favourite places, we just want to share yours too.
So we're looking for writers to help bring our readers more content. You don't need to be an experienced writer, we're just looking for anyone based in Australia who has a similar sense of adventure as us. If you'd like to be sent on some free trips in your spare time, simply fill out this quick form.

10 Things About Annie
It was love at first sight when I met Steve - I knew he was the one as soon as I saw him!
People are always shocked to hear I have never drank a cup of coffee in my life.
Most Australians think I'm on holiday here because I still have a strong British accent!
I have what Steve calls 'selective sensitivity sound syndrome' where I find specific sounds too unbearable like slurping.
I have a BA(hons) degree in Fine Art Painting and I haven't painted anything since.
My favourite travel moment was hiking to Everest Base Camp in 2018. It was honestly mind blowing!
I think I'm really funny and will most likely be the only one in a room laughing at my own jokes!
I've done loads of random challenges; a couple of 12 day silent meditation retreats, 10 day juice cleanses, nearly a month on a liquid diet (to help with my gut issues) and I've ran 3 half marathons. One day I'll conquer a full marathon.
My favourite movies are Coming To America and Cocktail, and I quote them ALL THE TIME.
Happiness to me is swimming in the ocean every day, hiking and finding hidden gems I can share with you.
10 Things About Steve
I've travelled to over 60 countries and been on loads of around the world backpacking trips - I don't think I'll ever stop!
I'm obsessed with planes and could watch Air Crash Investigation all day long - even while travelling on a plane!
I used to be in a heavy metal band as the lead singer and guitarist.
My world is over if a restaurant serves me a terrible meal - food is life - especially sushi!
I just Love cats & dogs & ducks. All animals seem to flock to me when I'm around them!
I'm a (hot) chip connoisseur and will happily debate the quality of decent chips and of course the dips to go with it. Long live Belgian Fries.
I manage to get myself into hospital pretty much in every country I visit. My taxi driver assisted the doctor whilst they bandaged my arm up after a paragliding accident in a remote part of India once!
I was in a Bollywood movie during a visit to Mumbai called 'Old As Gold'. Go check it out!
In a previous life, I used to be an Audio Engineer and mixed bands. My claim to fame was mixing the music for the band of the brother who sang the Home & Away theme tune, Tina Arena & Mental As Anything.
My uncle was an extra in loads of classic Aussie movies such as Muriels Wedding & Strictly Balloon!
Thanks for taking the time to check out our site!
Love
Annie & Steve
