I’ve recently been asked for some fun date ideas in Sydney and I know if it were me, I’d prefer to go out and do something really fun rather than be constrained to dinner where it can get a bit awkward.

1. Bring Out Your Adventurous Side

2. Sail Into The Sunset On A Tallships Cruise In Sydney
There are loads of sunset cruises to go on but which one is right for you? Here’s some of our favourites.
One of the best things we’ve ever done in Sydney was go on a Sydney Harbour Tall Ships Cruise which literally feels like a massive pirate ship. We took full advantage of the free wine and canapés and had an awesome time as we sailed around the harbour during sunset.

3. Go On A Romantic Picnic To A Secret Beach
If you’re looking to impress a date, you really can’t go wrong with taking them off in a water limousine to a private beach in Sydney.
When you arrive you’ll have everything waiting there for you including, beach chairs, an umbrella, picnic blanket, a bottle of sparkling wine AND a choice between a seafood platter or an antipasto board. Sounds bloomin’ romantic if we say so ourselves!
4. Have Breakfast With A Koala
Why not head over to Wild Life Sydney Zoo in Darling Harbour for breakfast with a twist. You’ll be surrounded by friendly koala’s which makes a unique way to spend the morning.
The best part is, you’ll get access to the zoo before the crowds arrive. From just $60pp this is a memorable date that will set you up to plan the rest of the day with your date.
5. Go On A Unique Foodies Tour
Try something completely different and go on a foodies tour around some of the newest refugee communities in Australia. If you love exploring new cultures and to learn more about food then THIS TOUR is for you.
Expect to try good from Afghanistan, Syria Persia and Turkey. This three and a half hour tour starts in Merrylands, near Parramatta. Fear not, you can take the train if you need to.
6. Go On A Ghost Tour
Might sound a bit lame but a ghost tour around The Rocks is awesome. Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night a 90 minute tour takes place that takes you around the historic side of Sydney so you can learn why it’s haunted. Afterwards go for dinner and drinks in the city.
7. Show Off Your Arty Side
Ivanhoe Hotel in Manly run a 2 hour class from 7pm-9pm where you’ll all learn how to paint a masterpiece from one of the most famous paintings in history.
You don’t need to bring anything as all materials are provided. But you must be 18 or over to take part in this fun night out.
If you don’t fancy going all the way over to Manly, Stacks Bar & Restaurant in Darling Harbour also offer up a similar class whereby you’ll get to paint Van Gough’s famous Starry Sky.
It runs from 7:30-9:30pm, perfect for something to do during the week in Sydney.
8. Take A Seaplane Or Helicopter Flight Over Sydney Harbour
A 30 minute seaplane flight will take you out from Sydney Harbour and over to Palm Beach. Just wait until you get over to North Head and fly past the cliffs – it’s a sight you won’t forget. This experience costs around $300 and is one of the best fun dates ideas in Sydney you need to know about!
We loved the helicopter flight over Sydney Harbour. It takes you right over the city and even over the Sydney Harbour Bridge which is an amazing experience in itself. A 20 minute flight will take you right over to Bondi Beach and is cheaper at around $190 pp.
I used to see the sunrise kayakers on Sydney Harbour when I went for my morning run when I lived in Kirribilli. It was always something I wanted to do as it looked so peaceful and beautiful. Make sure you check out this sunrise kayak tour, it looks absolutely wonderful.
If you’re more of a sunset person, then THIS tour looks equally good.
10. Learn to surf in Bondi
Just imagine it – you’re on a date in the water learning to surf in Bondi. This is an excellent opportunity to help your date and make them feel protected, safe and will ultimately bring you closer in no time. Best of all, it will be fun and an ice breaker within minutes!
11. Go Snorkeling in Sydney
Ever wanted to go snorkeling in Sydney? THIS three hour tour will take you to some of the best snorkelling spots in Sydney around Manly! All you need to do is book and turn up and the rest is organised for you. Perfect!
12. Wine tasting in Sydney + cheese of course!
If you really need to break the ice, go on a wine tasting tour at Urban Winery in Sydney next door to Centennial Park. You know what’s great about it? You get six glasses of wine in one hour. That’s right. SIX. If that doesn’t break the ice then I don’t know what will!
After you finish the tour, head over to Centennial Park and hire out some bikes and stop off at all of the restaurants in the park for another glass of vino ?
13. Go on a street art tour in Sydney
Did you know there are some awesome streets in Sydney covered in world class street art? THIS two hour street art tour will take you to all of the lesser known spots and will end the day with a craft beer, a perfect way to start your evening on your date.
14. Cooking Class at Sydney Fish School
There’s nothing more romantic than going on a cooking class date! Good news is, Sydney Fish Market run seafood cooking classes which last around three hours. This is a great way to work together with your date and find out if there’s any chemistry between you!
You’ll get to eat the food with a glass of vino at the end! You never know, you might be taught by one of the top chefs in Australia like Mat Moran!
15. Luxury Golf day out
Spend the day with your date in a unique way by going to play golf together. THIS luxury golf day out will see you being picked up in a Porsche, kitted out in the best golf gear and you’ll head to some of the best golf courses in Sydney.
16. VIP Opera House + Dinner at Bennelong
If you’ve not been inside the Sydney Opera House before, why not take your date out. It’s the perfect opportunity to get dressed up and really spoil them.

17. Go on an underwater scooter
You heard it right. Forget swimming, the underwater scooter is the new swimming accessory in town. Let the scooter do all the work for you as you glide through the water to see all of the colour marine life! Everything is provided, you just need to show up in your swimmers!
18. Sunset Yacht Racing on Sydney Harbour
It doesn’t get much more exciting than going yacht racing on Sydney Harbour. This sunset race will take you between Rushcutters Bay and Watsons Bay for a three hour sailing experience.
You’ll get to watch the sunset over Sydney Harbour, and you’ll get to learn the ropes of what it’s like to actually go sailing as well as jump in and help the crew when needed.
19. Adventure tour to Ku-ring-gai National Park
Become a tourist in your own city and take a day trip to one of Sydney best loved National Parks!
THIS eight hour tour will take your paddle boarding or kayaking, on a guided bush walk and is limited to a small group around Ku-ring-gai National Park. Best of all, you’ll be picked up in the middle of Sydney so you don’t need to drive there. What a unique fun dates ideas in Sydney!
