Need to find the best Sunday roast in Sydney? Don’t worry about having to research where to go, we have combined a list of the most amazing Sunday roasts in Sydney including a good Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings! So relax and plan the best Sunday ticking off these weekly roast venues.
What makes a great Sunday roast?
Our site would not be complete if we didn’t bring you this legendary post about finding the best traditional Sunday roast in Sydney. We know our expat followers miss the Sunday ritual of hanging out with friends on a bit of a hangover in the pub, while finishing off a pint and a Sunday roast with all the trimmings.
We know it’s not the same as being back home, but hopefully our guide will help you feel like a little piece of home will always be with you at these pubs in Sydney we’ve found for you to continue that ritual on.
What makes the roast excellent is if each element is cared for, from slow roasting the meat such as a roast beef or a crispy roast pork and making the gravy from scratch to nailing the perfect crispy roasted potatoes. For me, if the seasonal vegetables are seasoned well or roasted with as much care as the meat such as honey glazed carrots or cauliflower cheese, then you are onto one mean Sunday roast!

1. Step into a country British pub at The Lord Dudley, Woollahra
The Lord Dudley is one of our favourite places and features in a few Londoner in Sydney articles. It is one of the best British pubs in Sydney and we may be biased but it is pretty much guaranteed they will do a delicious roast every time.
For $26, you can get a roast chicken or juicy roast pork belly with roast pumpkin, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, gravy and apple sauce. Top this off with their cosy British pub interior, fireplace, British ales and board games and you have got yourself an awesome Sunday afternoon; I can say from experience it is well worth it.
2. Wash down a roast with a craft beer flight at The Taphouse, Darlinghurst
The head chef Axel Chilton creates his English-style weekly roast inspired by his Grandma’s secret recipe, so it is not a surprise this place made it onto our list of incredible Sunday roasts in Sydney.
No word of a lie, The Taphouse do the best Yorkshire pudding I have had in Sydney, they are enormous and delicious. Usually offering three options, tender beef brisket, roast pork with crackling and a vegan lentil loaf, their weekly roast is served with all the trimmings and smothered in gravy. With over 60 craft beers to try, I can guarantee you will have a perfect Sunday.
3. Gorge on a giant Yorkshire pudding at The Foresters, Surry Hills
The only thing better than a delicious roast is if you serve the gravy smothered dishes in a giant house made Yorkshire pudding! The Foresters in Surry Hills is taking, arguably, the best part of a pub roast and making it the main event. Join The Foresters for their rotating roast menu complete with crispy potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
4. Get your Pigs in Blankets fix at The Duke of Clarence, CBD
The Duke of Clarence is inspired by an 18th-century English tavern with original furnishings shipped from the UK dating over 100 years. The whole menu is British pub-style and you can drink British beer, gin, mulled wine and scotch.
They are often named the best Sunday roast Sydney has to offer; curated with care and serving all the trimmings including dutch carrots, honey roasted parsnips, beef fat roasted potatoes and the dream side; pigs in blankets!
Whether you choose their beef sirloin, roasted lamb leg or roasted pumpkin and wild rice; I’m sure you will go home with a very happy belly.

7. Have a curated Sunday Roast from The Botanist, Kirribilli
The Botanist is a beautiful restaurant inspired by the British botanist Gerard Fothergill who travelled the world researching fine foods, spices and herbs. Any restaurant that pays homage to a botanist must put a lot of care and thought into their Sunday roast, right?
