The Boathouse cafes in Sydney are a bit of an institution and whilst there are a few dotted around, The Boathouse in Balmoral must be one of the best cafes in Sydney you need to visit. Here’s our review of what to expect at this Sydney cafe.
I really love Balmoral beach as it’s pretty quiet there and it always feels almost like a hidden gem. Last time we went we knew we had to come back to try the food at The Boathouse.
When we walked into The Boathouse we were greeted to a very light and open entrance area. We queued up and ordered some food only to find that all the seats were taken. We had to wait in the hope that someone would leave just in time for our food to arrive. This is what we had:
Boathouse Salad $28
(Salmon, quinoa, avocado, celeriac, labne)
Grilled Fish $27
(Grains, mushroom + gremolata)
Bowl of Chips $9
(w/ aioli)
I had the salad and it was hands down one of the best I have ever had. Steve said the chips were the best he’d ever had, all in all it was very good. Shame the drinks menu was placed near the exit door, otherwise I would have ordered a smoothie but maybe that’s something they need to think about changing. It was a lovely chilled place, family friendly and I’m sure we will be back to try some of their other dishes soon!
