We Found An Amazing Dog-Friendly Accommodation In Sunshine Coast

Looking for dog-friendly accommodation in Sunshine Coast and unsure where to stay? Find out what it was like when we stayed at the 4-star self-contained Sunshine Valley Cottages in Woombye.

It was our first time going on holiday with our puppy, so we were a little apprehensive about how she would get on. At first, she was totally unsure about our little cottage, but within five minutes, she loved it.

We ended up having a fantastic time at Sunshine Valley Cottages. The owners, David and Nina are so accommodating, we literally ended our stay by suggesting how we should catch up next time we’re in the area because they are so nice.

With that in mind, we wanted to share this hidden gem with you, regardless of whether you have a dog or horse (they have a horse paddock as well!). Situated in the middle of the Sunny Coast, the location doesn’t get much better. If you’re looking for Sunshine Coast accommodation, we strongly recommend staying here because we loved it!

Here are our reasons why you should stay at Sunshine Valley Cottages, so you can understand why it’s fantastic dog-friendly accommodation in the Sunshine Coast.

1. It’s Located Right In The Heart Of Sunshine Coast

The location of Sunshine Valley Cottages really doesn’t get much better because it’s just a 20-minute drive from the beaches at Mooloolaba and a 15-minute drive up the Blackall Range to Montville. This means you can easily get to both popular places to visit in Sunshine Coast without having to travel far.

Let’s not forget, there are plenty of things to do in Woombye you should know about. It’s home to a fantastic little village, probably most known for the famous Woombye Pub which has been running since 1900. There are some cracking cafes to eat at, think Grounded At Woombye, and Kimnat Market & Cafe.

Woombye is also home to Australia’s first ‘big thing’, The Big Pineapple with plenty of attractions nearby. We loved the Treetop Challenge, which is perfect for all ages, and Cavu Distilling which is tucked behind the Big Pineapple complex serving up the locally made Sunshine & Sons gin and rum. We loved this little place, somewhere you could come for a tasting session or cocktail and feel like you’re away from it all.

Don’t forget to the visit the nearby Palmwoods and check out the famous Rick’s Garage for the best burgers in Sunshine Coast!

2. Expect Total Privacy At Sunshine Valley Cottages

Sunshine Valley Cottages is rather unexpected in the sense that when you pull up to the entrance, it opens out into three cottages which are all spaced apart enough so you’ll feel like you have enough privacy from each one. I love that they’ve thought about the space and haven’t jammed it with loads of accommodation. It makes you feel like you’ve discovered a gorgeous hidden gem.

3. Beautiful Gardens & Swimming Pool

Leading on from the privacy brings you to the beautiful gardens at Sunshine Valley Cottages. We loved how the sun would shine through the beautiful palm trees and it felt obvious that a lot of love has gone into the maintenance of them. You could easily put a picnic blanket down and just enjoy the garden for the afternoon if you liked.

There’s a path that leads onto a fenced area for your dog to run around. With a couple of chairs next to it, you can sit back and watch your dog let off some steam in this fab area.

Or take a swim in the stunning swimming pool and you won’t even think about heading to the beach!

4. Fenced Gate Around The Cottage For Your Pooch

For us, it was great to see a fenced gate around the cottage so our puppy could spend as much time as she liked outside without us worrying about where she was. In our current rental home, our garden isn’t fenced so she’s usually on a lead. To us, this was a lovely touch to see her excited about having some outside space to herself.

5. The Cottage Has Everything You’ll Need For Your Stay

We loved our little a/c room which we stayed in for five days. The queen size bed was really comfortable, and we had enough room to put Tomarlie’s crate and pen next to our bed. With indoor and outdoor dining tables to choose from, the kitchen had everything we would need to make a few meals ourselves. The fridge definitely came in handy, especially for stocking up on Kenilworth Dairies yoghurt and chocolate mousse! The bathroom was spotless too.

6. Exceptional Pet Sitting Service At Sunshine Valley Cottages

One of the drawcards for staying at Sunshine Valley Cottages is the fact that they offer a pet sitting service as well. As this was our first trip away from home with Tomarlie, we felt a little apprehensive about leaving her with someone we didn’t know. But, we felt instantly happy with leaving her with Nina and David. They looked after our puppy a couple of times and loved her so much, they gave us a little toy she had been drawn to, to take home with us.

We had to re-arrange a trip we had planned for the swimming with whales in Mooloolaba because of the weather during our stay. This meant we didn’t find out if it was going ahead until the day before. Luckily Nina and David offered to look after her without any hesitation. To us, having their pet sitting service made our trip so easy, we would stay back there in a heartbeat.

7. We Instantly Felt Like We Could Be Friends With The Owners

How many places have you stayed at where the hosts put the lights and reverse a/c on before you arrive so you can walk into a cosy room if you’re visiting in the middle of Winter like we did?

Nina and David offered to look after our puppy, even at the last minute when we had to re-arrange some of our activities. At the end of our stay, they handed us a toy Tomarlie had grown attached to and even offered to look after her during our next stay in Sunshine Coast, regardless of even staying at their dog-friendly accommodation!

We felt really lucky to have stayed at Sunshine Valley Cottages and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. Find out more about staying at Sunshine Valley Cottages here.
