Are you looking for a Maleny day spa and wondering what Spa Anise at Spicer’s Tamarind Retreat is like? As it was our 10 year anniversary recently, we decided to celebrate at one of the best Sunshine Coast day spas around!
We spent the day having lunch at Spicers Tamarind Restaurant and the rest of the day with our jaws nearly on the floor in awe at the wonderful Spa Anise. We’ll talk more about the Maleny restaurant soon because in this article, we’ll be concentrating on what our experience at Spa Anise was like so you can get an idea of what to expect. If you’ve been looking for Spa Anise reviews, look no further!
Where Is The Luxury Maleny Day Spa, Spa Anise?
Spa Anise is located just outside of Maleny in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and next door to the popular Gardeners Falls. I say popular, but Gardener’s Falls is far enough away to feel like you’re in total peacefulness, even if you’ll have access to a path to walk to it from the retreat.
Gardeners Falls is actually rather beautiful and a perfect spot for a dip if you’re visiting the area for sure. Just be warned that it does get busy.
If you’re coming from Brisbane, it takes around 1h30m to drive up the beautiful Blackall Range and along the gorgeous country roads to Spicers Tamarind Retreat.
Maleny is probably the most popular town in Sunshine Coast Hinterland and gets super busy on the weekends for anyone looking for day trips from Brisbane. There are loads of things to do in Maleny, so you can check out our guide if needed as it’s one of our favourite places in the whole of the Sunshine Coast!
Our Experience At Spa Anise Spicers Tamarind Retreat
After we finished our lunch at Spicers Tamarind Restaurant, we then walked along the retreat’s boardwalk and past the beautiful swinging chair tree, up to the day spa. It takes only around five minutes to walk there and it’s a beautiful walk if you’re having lunch at Spicers.
The spa and restaurant are located away from each other and have separate car parks so you can just park at the Spa Anise car park if you prefer.
Initially, we were mainly interested in experiencing the famous hydrotherapy pool but we had a massage booked in too. We didn’t really know what to expect but we ended up leaving the Maleny day spa feeling totally relaxed and quite literally ready for a nap.
Let’s Start With The Exceptional Service
The service is absolutely exceptional at Spa Anise in Maleny. As soon as we got close to the entrance, a member of staff opened the door for us and greeted us with warmth and a lovely smile. The energy at the spa is quiet and peaceful with a sense of space. We instantly felt like we had entered a beautiful place we wouldn’t be in a hurry to leave anytime soon.
Greeted by the receptionist, we were then taken down to the changing rooms which we worked out we had to ourselves. With lockable drawers to put our belongings in, a shower, robe, slippers and towels included, we quickly got changed before we literally took one step across the hall and into the hydrotherapy pool.
The Spa Anise Hydrotherapy Pool
The hydrotherapy pool at Spa Anise is just stunning. With huge windows which open right out with beautiful hinterland views, I’d be surprised if you weren’t impressed with this stunning pool. There’s also a gorgeous shower in the middle of the room that will make you feel like you’ve dipped into a rain shower. I particularly liked the concept of this beautiful design.
There’s also a steam room located inside the hydro pool room too. It’s small and compact, but I suppose that’s what it’s there for. Steve loved the steam room and contemplated about where to spend the majority of his time at the spa because he wanted to experience it all at once.
After we had been in the steam room and showered, it was time to hit the mineralised spa pool. We turned the switch on and the jets started as we lay there looking out to the green rainforest view which we had all to ourselves.
At that moment, Steve and I turned to each other and we said how our anniversary in Maleny couldn’t have been more perfect!
Choosing Our Massage
30 minutes in the hydrotherapy pool went fast and before we knew it, we quickly showered, put our robe on and headed down the hallway to the footbath treatment rooms.
It was here that we had to decide which massage we were going to go with while we sat there in pure bliss with our feet dipped into the spa. The masseuses helped us decide which one to go for and we ended up choosing a relaxing full body massage.
When we entered the massage room, beautiful calming music was playing throughout the one hour experience. It was so relaxing, I actually fell asleep towards the end of the massage!
Drinking Green Tea
At the end of the experience, both Steve and I were completely and utterly relaxed. We took another shower, got changed and were taken out to the balcony at the back of the spa to sit and relax even more with green tea and stunning Sunshine Coast Hinterland views to match.
The Only Problem We Had
At the end of the experience, we turned to each other and said the only problem we had with our experience at Spa Anise is that we wish we had booked accommodation at Spicers Tamarind Retreat! We were far too relaxed to drive down the Blackall Range back home again.
It made us realise that we need to go to a spa more often than we have done before. We spent quality time together and absolutely loved the exceptional service from the staff at this stunningly gorgeous Maleny Day Spa.
If you’re looking for anniversary present ideas in Sunshine Coast or looking for something to do on a special occasion or romantic getaways from Brisbane, look no further. It’s a 10 out of 10 from us for spending our 10 year anniversary at this beautiful place.
Treatments To Choose From
Although we had a 1-hour massage and use of the hydrotherapy spa, there’s plenty of treatments to choose from. Choose from Tamarind’s signature massage menu, opt for one of the signature Spa Anise packages or book in for a mani-pedi, facials, makeup lessons and more. The relaxation massage costs $160 and the use of the Hydrotherapy Spa starts from just $30.
It’s the type of place I would come back to again with Steve or bring my best friend to in a heartbeat. Hope this helps you decide on where to spend a beautifully relaxing weekend in Sunshine Coast Hinterland!
