Yandina is an old Sunshine Coast town experiencing fairly rapid change around its established centre. About 3,100 people live here and population has grown by roughly 28% since 2016, while the median age of 36 makes it younger than many nearby hinterland communities.
The practical base is solid: schools, healthcare and shopping are strong, and the town sits only around 15 minutes from a major hospital, 20 minutes from the coast and under half an hour from the airport. Housing has become expensive, with a median around $1.48 million and three-bedroom rents near $750 a week, reflecting demand for well-connected hinterland locations.
The Ginger Factory, heritage streets and long-standing town centre give Yandina more identity than a purely residential growth area, but tourism does not dominate daily life. Rainfall is high and the climate is warm. Brisbane is about 1 hour 30 minutes away, close enough for occasional access without making the town a simple commuter suburb.
The food and creative scene is modest compared with Maleny, and some work or entertainment will still draw residents toward larger Sunshine Coast centres. Yandina is strongest for people who want a real local town with excellent regional access and are comfortable with the fact that recent growth and rising housing costs are changing the pace around it.
