We’ve all seen the scenes of people panic shopping and it’s no surprise that a lot of our favourite Sydney restaurants and cafes could close very soon.

Rather than panic shop, there are still many options to consider, especially when it comes to the future of our dining scene in Sydney. What was once classed as a weekend treat, food delivery and takeaway food is about to replace eating out at the moment. Get a takeaway from your favourite Sydney restaurant, order a home delivery, meal delivery or order a food box to cook your own meals.

Let’s support Sydney restaurants right now as many are opting to concentrate on takeaway options. Seeing as we have no idea how long our current situation will go on for, the best we can do is to try to support each other locally.

Here’s what’s currently available in Sydney to consider. We’ll keep adding to this list as and when we hear of any other places offering up home deliveries or takeaways.

Home Delivery

Get home deliveries from the amazing Fast Fuel in Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle.

If you’re house bound and you can’t pick up a takeaway, opt for a home delivery service. If you’re wondering how that will work, it will be contactless so the delivery person will just knock on your door and leave your food outside, rather than coming into contact with you.

If you’re also wondering about large delivery companies supporting Australian restaurants and cafes during this time, there has been a call to cut their commission rates here.

If you’re new to Australia, these are the most popular places to order home delivery which tend to feature a lot of Sydney restaurants on them.

Fast Fuel deliver their home made healthy meals in the Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle area. I lived off their food in Newcastle as they have a couple of cafes there as their food is excellent. If you’re into clean, healthy meals, check them out. Be warned, you’ll never cook a meal again once you try them!

For those looking to cook their own meals but don’t want to deal with the chaos of going into the supermarket, here’s some options to consider.

Hello Fresh is probably the most well known of the food delivery services in Australia. I tried them when they first started and found the meals to be excellent. They are offering a total of $80 off your first four boxes.

Marley Spoon is a similar option to Hello Fresh who are currently offering $80 off your first four boxes as well.
