Last week I was invited to a bloggers evening at the newly refurbished 5 star Ovolo Hotel in Wooloomooloo for a 3 course meal by the Executive Chef Gavin Berrecloth (also a fellow Brit!). Even though I was excited about meeting 8 other Instagrammers and Bloggers, I was a little worried about the menu seeing as I’m a gluten free vegan.
When walking into the hotel’s grand entrance, I was greeted by a large open plan decked out reception, bar and entertaining area. The interior was stunning!

Once the bloggers all got together, we were escorted to a private suite to enjoy drinks before being led to another private dining area for a 3 course meal.

Canapes BEFORE dinner!
Being vegan and gluten free, I wasn’t expecting much from the food so I was more focused on having a great evening with everyone.
Instagrammers love a good photo op!
When the food came out I was more than surprised about the effort that went in to creating a single vegan menu just for me and therefore I feel it’s right to let you guys in on the quality and standard of the food produced at this gem!
Moroccan seared watermelon, chilled heirloom tomato, cucumber & herb soup, tograshi sugar glass, puffed rice, extra virgin olive oil
Refresh – Beetroot & Berry granita
Roasted portobello mushroom, smoked balsamic, fennel & wilted spinach, charred asparagus & salsa verde
Shaved Savoy cabbage, lemon, sriracha, mint, extra virgin olive oil
‘Orgasmic Passion Mk2’ – Passionfruit poached fruits, vanilla, four berry textures, banana & lychees
The service and food were both outstanding, somewhere I’d recommend to visit in a heartbeat which is open to hotel guests as well as the public to dine in. That’s the thing when going vegan, if you call ahead to let them know your food requirements, most restaurants will happily cater for you. I know in just the last month of going vegan, I’ve asked a few places now and they haven’t had a problem with it.
