Anyone who follows me knows how much I miss UK fashion (see my popular post on how to shop the UK High Street in Sydney here). We’re pretty spoilt for choice back home and I always seem to be reminded of this as new season collections hit the stores here in Sydney.
In saying this, Australian fashion has actually come a long way recently. While we’ve seen a handful of big global retailers pop up lately, I’m also discovering some impressive local brands which are helping me embrace Australian fashion.
One that’s caught my eye is family owned and run Australian luxury brand, Camilla and Marc. If you’ve seen their recent collection at MBFWA (that’s the premier Australian Fashion Week held in Sydney), you’ll know how beautiful this brand is. Just one of the many beautiful pieces from their collection at the opening of MBFWA 2018.
Their style is big on quality tailoring, strong silhouettes and simple design.
If you’re going to embrace Australian fashion (and let’s face it, we really should attempt to), then searching out local brands is a good way to do this. That’s where you’ll find authenticity and originality, and from what I can see, Camilla and Marc is exactly that. How gorgeous is this dress?
Yes, it’s a high-end brand and it’s taken me a long time to realise when buying quality, it’s actually going to last, but to be honest, I don’t find their prices too crazy! Their fabrics are super luxurious and those little quirky details really make their pieces stand out. Plus, if you’re looking for simple staples, their sale items are definitely worth checking out. This velvet dimmer is a great way to mix up the classic blazer look.
I have to say, I love the mix and match style we’re seeing at the moment. It’s almost like art and fashion colliding in a mishmash of fun and fabulous prints and colours.
If you want to get on board with this trend, Camilla and Marc’s bold patterns and eye-catching range of dresses are worth a look-in. The good thing is they can be layered with tights, boots and coats.
There’s something about royal blue that is super striking. This dress would also work well with layering with a polo neck and tights worn in winter.
Of course, it’s go big or go home with this style. Try bold florals, animal prints or big block colours which is the way to stand out in the fashion world in Australia!
Camilla and Marc’s winter collection features rich primary shades including emerald green, royal blue and ultraviolet.I love the flattering cut of this wrap shirt.
They’ve also got a great range of knits and jackets, from simple and classic looks to more eccentric pieces.
You can find any of these outfits and more on Camilla and Marc’s online store or on partner retailer Order of Style. Plus, Camilla and Marc has six boutiques across Australia if you’re the ‘try it on’ type.
