Welcome back to my feature What I Wore Last Week! Last week I wore a lot of dresses, I actually wore a dress nearly everyday and it’s a bit rare for me as I have been a skirt and top or shorts and top kinda girl this last year. I’m getting right into the Seventies trend and wore a lot of inspired outfits. As always, I give myself 30 minutes to get ready everyday so there’s no planning involved and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. So let’s take a look at the outfits I wore and where you can buy the items or similar from. With all of my clothes, I don’t usually spend more than $100 on anything let alone $100 on an entire outfit so I can show you guys how you don’t need to spend a lot in the shops of Sydney to actually put a half decent outfit together. Here goes to a week of dresses…

Monday

IMG_3012

Apologies for the rubbish photo but I was in a hurry on Monday so snapped this quickly before work. I wanted to put this up as this is a necklace my beautiful brother sent me for Christmas from my favourite jewellery shop in London called Tatty Divine. I love the unique designs they create there and so I’ve paired this little beauty with an all  white outfit to make the necklace the centre piece. The shift dress is from Zara and my trusted heels are from Topshop which I wore a lot last week. I would definitely recommend investing in a shift dress as it’s the perfect work dress for when you have no idea what to wear or when you’re having a ‘fat’ day.

White Shift Dress – Zara, Pitt St Mall (bought December 2014) $69 currently in the sale, similar here

Shoes – Topshop Sydney (bought Jan 2015 in the sale) $52 buy here

Necklace – Tatty Devine (Christmas 2014 gift) see the website here

No outfit Tues as Steve went to work early and I didn’t have time to snap a picture myself

Wednesday

french connection dress

It was a gorgeous day on Wednesday so I whipped out the French Connection dress I wore for the TV Show I did recently (see here) and paired it with those trusted heels from Topshop again. I love the relaxed look of this dress and the detail of the pockets is just so gorgeous and girly. I do however wish it was a bit on the longer side and it would be perfect! This dress always seems to get a few compliments when I’ve worn it! It’s a good dress to wear for work or even a special occasion like a wedding and a bit over what I’d usually spend on a dress but I think it was a good investment.

Dress – French Connection – Met Centre, Sydney (bought in Jan 2015)  $129.99 currently in store (Met Centre, Sydney) and in the sale here

Shoes – Topshop Sydney (bought Jan 2015 in the sale) $52 buy here

Thursday

Target dress

On Thursday I wore this gorgeous shirt dress I bought from Target of all places. I love finding random but stunning pieces in Target although it is rare to find but I think this has to be my favourite outfit of the week. I love the seventies feel to this red and white number so I’ve buttoned it all the way to the top, paired it with those simple Topshop heels and added my gorgeous tassel bag from good old Kmart to give it that added Seventies but modern look. I think that’s the thing with the Seventies trend – you have to make sure you don’t over do it and look all fancy dress up there. Try and give it a modern twist as I’ve gone for points rather than platforms and styled my hair in a modern look rather than going all charlies angels. Shirt dress are looking to be huge for those of you heading into SS15.

Shirt Dress – Target Broadway Shopping Centre (bought September 2014) $25 similar here

Shoes – Topshop Sydney (bought Jan 2015 in the sale) $52 buy here

Friday

Friday being a casual day in the office meant I went straight for my Zara fared jeans. I’ve gone all out for the seventies trend by teaming them with my new pussy bow blouse from Zara and I love the print and gorgeous detailing of this blouse with matching boots and that Kmart bag again with a H&M metallic belt to pull it altogether.

Flared Jeans – Zara Robina Shopping Mall (QLD) (bought in Dec 2014) $55 sale similar here

Blouse – Zara Pitt Street Mall (bought in Feb 2015) $69 currently in store in Sydney, similar here

Taupe Boots – Zara Pitt St Mall (bought in July 2014) $89 sale similar here

Bag – Kmart Broadway (bought Jan 2015) $20 similar here

Saturday

On Saturday I had a girls night out for dinner. I rarely go out in the evening anymore which is a shame as I have so many clothes that I simply don’t wear because I never get chance to. I bought this dress originally to wear for one of the scenes in the TV show I did recently but the location of the scene changed from Pub to Picnic and this dress wasn’t going to be picnic friendly. Thankfully my good friend Andrea (who’s also a blogger) invited me out for a night of good food & wine. I decided to opt for this simple monochrome look wearing Next shoes and a Kmart bag to perfectly compliment this dress from Topshop.

Monochrome Dress – Topshop Sydney (bought Jan 2014) $100 currently still in Sydney store similar here and here

Heels – Next  Online (bought Mar 2014) $49 similar here

Bag – Kmart Hurstville (bought in Oct 2014) $15 similar here

Sunday

On Sunday we went over to Bondi to try out an amazing cafe I kept seeing on my Instagram feed called Bondi Wholefoods.  I decided to wear my favourite shorts in the world which were custom made in Vietnam. During my travels last year, I bought this material from a shop in Malawi when I lived there. I used to walk past this shop most days and I absolutely loved this print so much that I knew I had to eventually buy it. Just before I left that town I lived in for 3 months, I went and bought the material and had it made into a similar pair of shorts I already owned in Vietnam. I love the fact that they are one of a kind and so I’ve teamed them with neutral colours to really bring out the print.

Shorts – Custom made from Vietnam, fabric bought in Malwai, Africa $20

Shirt – H&M Brighton, UK (bought July 2014) $20 similar here

Shoes – Topshop Sydney (bought Jan 2015 in the sale) $52 buy here

So these were my outfits from last week. Which one was your favourite? I’m going for the red dress! Tune back in next week for What I wore Last Week!
