What I wore on House Hunters International TV Show

Following on from the post ‘Top 5 Tips To Prepare for TV’ I thought I’d share the outfits I chose to wear when I featured on the American TV Show House Hunters International. I did a lot of research on the net trying to finding any tips on what clothes would look good on camera etc but there wasn’t a lot out there. Most of the tips I could find were for filming in studio which all mainly stated not to wear white or red (two of my favourite colours) but neutrals looked best. We all know when we watch ourselves on a video the perspective can look a bit distorted in our eyes and I wanted to get it right mainly because I knew the episode would be something I’d keep forever and would be nice to look back on when Steve & I are really old.

I decided not to wear anything I thought was ‘really fashionable’ because I knew I’d be regretting it by the time the episode was aired (apparently it should be aired in about six moths time) so I wanted to keep it simple. I used to dress really fashion focused but since moving to Sydney I’ve really adapted their way of dressing into more of a simplistic way (and I’d like to think I’ve grown up with my style too!). I made several mad dashes around the shops of Sydney trying to find the right outfits for each scene and we were told no all white outfits (damn that’s what I wanted to wear!), no checks, no logos etc. So this is what I wore on TV…

Day 1 Outfit_1

This was the first outfit I wore which was for a short scene walking around the CBD (centre of Sydney). I wanted to wear something playful, fresh and fun and French Connection had the answer for me with this dress. I love the cut and the print is gorgeous giving it a bit of a 60’s feel. I managed to get the shoes in the Topshop sale for just $50! Bargain!

The Main Outfit

FIlming House Hunters International

This was my main outfit and I had to wear it for mostly 4 out of the 5 days filming. I chose this look as  as I really liked the feminine feel and fresh style to it.  I absolutely adore pleats on anything and this has to be one of my favourite skits from the one and only Zara. The best thing about this outfit is I didn’t even need to go shopping for it as it was already in my wardrobe!

Picnic Scene With My Friend Andrea

We shot a quick picnic scene down at Cremorne Point with my favourite blogger and beautiful friend Andrea of Workweardilema. Weirdly, we both wore head to toe outfits from Australian store Sheike. Andrea actually introduced me to this shop and I fell in love with their prints and a lot of their wearable clothes. I absolutely love this maxi dress I’m wearing and I thought it would go well with the picnic scene that was a last minute decision from the Director.

Final Scenes Outfit

I chose this casual outfit for the living at home and utilising my house scene. Usually I’d be in joggers at home but obvs not for TV! I absolutely adore this Zara skirt, it has to be one of my favourites and is perfect for summer with the hot days we get here.

Seaplane Scene

And so I’ve left the best til last. I saw this dress a while ago and absolutely fell head over heels for it but it was way, way too expensive for me to buy just because it was pretty. I needed an excuse and nothing was going to be worth it until I found out that I needed an outfit for a seaplane ride to a gorgeous restaurant for one of the scenes.

Awesome I thought, now here’s my excuse! I did infact wait as long as possible for the price to be reduced even more in the sales and bought it a few days before filming for less than half price (pheww!). I thought to myself that it would be nice to have one really beautiful outfit to wear during filming and this is what I wore – a simple outfit with a pop of red lips for a bit of cold school glamour.
