Getting my fitness back on track with the F45 8 Week Challenge

As you might know, I love Sydney’s healthy culture – the food, sports and lifestyle will turn anyone into consciously living a better quality of life.

This last year has seen me go vegan, give up alcohol as well as and running and cycling pretty much everyday. Before I went back to the UK for a few weeks in August, I started F45 (the functional training craze that has taken Australia by storm).

I absolutely loved F45 as I joined the Haymarket gym, ran by two amazing trainers, T and Dan who are so passionate about their gym that their infectious energy would easily make anyone turn up to their daily sessions.

But after my time in England, I decided life was too short to cut out alcohol completely – let’s face it, I have the rest of my life to do that and at the end of the day, it’s all about balance. After seeing my friends all settled down with their beautiful children, the realisation kicked in that when I am ready to go down that route, it would be the perfect time to give up alcohol then. For now, a few ciders now or then is on the cards but what I miss more than anything is feeling healthy and fit and now I’m trying to find a way to do that again.

I’ve started cycling to work and am trying to fit in a run when I can but what I know is really going to kick me into shape will be going back to F45. When I found out the 8 week challenge was starting on Monday 10 October, I knew this was the perfect time to make my health a focus and a reality.

So what is the F45 8 Week Challenge?

The F45 8 Week Challenge is run a few times a year and this time round it’s from 10 October – 4 December 2016. It’s split into 3 phases – Phase 1 is all about detoxing, cleansing and alkalising for the first 2 weeks; Phase 2 is about strengthening and defining muscle tone for 3 weeks and the final stage, Phase 3 (the hardest stage) is about increasing fat burn.

The challenge is designed to give you your own personal online nutritionist to help you achieve your health objectives, which can be to reduce body fat, get leaner, feel better about yourself or a combination of each. There are daily meal plans to help keep your nutrition on the right track and you can create custom shopping lists from your choice of recipes as well!

So first thing I needed to do is buy a protein powder (yes, it’s a first time for me!) and get a dexus scan before and after the challenge to monitor my results!

It’s incredible seeing their progress and makes me want to achieve similar goals because I think if they can do it, why can’t I? I’ll be documenting my progress from the start so keep an eye on here and on my Instagram for future updates.
