Anyone who knows Sydney well will be aware that Jonah’s Restaurant and Boutique Hotel up on the cliffs of Whale Beach is a bit of an institution when it comes to dining out in Sydney. An hour’s drive north of Sydney up in the tropical Northern Beaches lies Jonah’s, a great weekend away, wedding venue or a worth a day trip just to try the food.
Seeing as my blog is designed for people moving to or who are already living in Sydney, I’ve decided to start writing a series on places to visit outside of Sydney to inspire any of you looking for great things to do outside of the city. The great thing about Jonah’s is you can also get a seaplane out to there from Sydney harbour as well for a really special getaway!
Having driven past many a times before, I decided to book my partner and I in for breakfast. I picked breakfast because it’s our favourite meal of the day. I rarely go out for dinner, but when it comes to Sydney cafes, I’m your girl. I always prefer a breakfast menu, whether it’s fruit bowls, acai bowls or an eggs dish, I love it all!
We drove up ready for a 9am breakfast which was perfect timing because it was pretty quiet. As soon as we walked into the dining room we were greeted by the magnificent view. It was so beautiful and worth dining just for that! The waiter service was spot on and probably some of the best I’ve seen in a long time for their food recommendations and overall service.

What Are The Choices For Breakfast?
For $55 per person you get the following;
Tea & Coffee – Juice – A mini Croissant – First Course – Second Course
We thought for $55 this was actually pretty good because we generally spend about $25 per person on one course for breakfast. To see the breakfast menu, click here.
This is what we had…
Starting breakfast at Jonah’s with Peppermint Tea, Mini Croissants and Juice
Acai Bowl – açai berry, almond milk, toasted coconut and oatmeal granola, mint
Truffled Scrambled Eggs chives & toasted brioche (top)
Poached Eggs and Sweetcorn Fritter, bacon (no bacon requested), cherry tomatoes, crushed avocado, bronze fennel
Close Up – Poached Eggs and Sweetcorn Fritter, bacon (no bacon requested), cherry tomatoes, crushed avocado, bronze fennel
The tea and mini croissant were a lovely way to start breakfast. The Acai Bowl was different to what I’m used to but the mint was a great flavour to add in. For the second course I had the Poached Eggs which were perfectly cooked and full of flavour, Steve had the Truffled Scrambled Eggs as recommended by the waiter and absolutely fabulous!
After breakfast we were gifted with a gorgeous smelling candle to take home and we spent a good hour or so watching the world go by on their outdoor couches. Perfect!

Overall we had a great time at Jonah’s. It was a bit of a treat and something different to do let alone a reason to get out of the city for the day. I even thought it was a perfect wedding venue which was hinted at to the boyfriend a few times! 😉
If you have family or friends coming to Sydney for a few days then I’d recommend taking them up to Jonah’s for a meal or to stay overnight as it’s a stunning venue. Alternatively, get yourselves there for breakfast, lunch or dinner now!
